CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL

Life among giants is tricky.

We begin by staying close to Mom.

We venture out.

We crawl.

We rise up on our haunches and we stumble.

We cry out for Mom but before our favorite Giant reaches us we are up again and on the move.

From the first hour after birth we search for safety.

We measure that safety in approval and in degrees of personal success.

We shout to an invisible horizon “I am not afraid”.

And even when disappointed beyond words we seek additional measures of approval.

We had begun one person at a time until one day we decided “more is better”.

More approval meant  more cooperation and less emphasis on being right.

We slowed the experimentation.

We adopted the attitudes and belief systems of a group.

We rebelled occasionally, unhappy with having opted to be less true to ourselves in favor of what? Safety? Fairness? (Fairness? Really?)

Why had we dismissed our Freedom?

We had a cup of coffee in the most popular coffee shop and thought about it.

(This isn’t so bad… is it?)

Is it?

THE ROCK

lafayette compound 008

“I am a rock.”    Paul Simon.”

Imagine a rock, a mountainous boulder hurtling through space. Such a crumb of infinity would, if endowed with minimal intelligence, repeat over and over “I am a rock, seeking my destiny, piercing the void at the fastest possible speed, deviating from my path, never at all. I will continue on this perfectly straight, flawlessly, narrow course until I reach my-as yet unknown goal.”

This narcissistic traveler would have no information available to aid it in the discovery that it had, trillions of years earlier, fallen into the gravitational control of an immeasurably vast ball of gas which would someday burn itself into ultimate darkness taking with it this orbiting rock-o-naut and all other space crumbs within orbiting range.

INTERROGATIVES

INTERROGATIVES

How many millions are in a trillion?

How many leaves in a forest?

How many souls exist in forever?

How many came before us?

Where is it written?’Where are the answers?

Where is the heavenly Chorus?

When did the Big Bang Beget the beginning?

Is the answer there before us?

What if I told you I knew all along?

What if you held a Thesaurus?

A new interrogative might have an answer

Or perhaps it would simply bore us.

Perhaps I had better ask Morris

EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS ADDICTIVE. REALY. EVERYTHING

lafayette compound 008

EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS ADDICTIVE.
REALY.
EVERYTHING

The first thought inspires a second look.

The second look, an affirmation.

The third reveals an addictive part of our nature, curiosity.

Curiosity is a wonderful quality.

We Love, we fight, we investigate, we believe everything we hear or nothing.

And we fear.

Our very first observations as we enter this world are motivated by fear.

Fear is the driving force behind our addictive nature.

Our very first ideas are driven by the need for safety and inspired by the fear that none is available.

Some of us find it; some don’t.

That which we seek is called Love and is discovered in a three-step process; these three steps are…

Addiction.

Awareness.

Acceptance.

The discovery and the implementation of these three qualities often inspires a new need.

Most of us learn eventually to recognize Love, to Accept Love and to Pass that love on.

Yes we do.

We accept The Love and we pass it on.
